	Maggie is a well-loved mastiff dog whose owner wished to honor her in portrait artwork. After researching the breed, the artist chose a stone wall background to suit her stolid personality, build and regal bearing. (Note the original background in reference photo above, taken by the artist.) See the companion portrait to Maggie's of the yellow labrador Bailey, where the stone wall is also used to great effect. Contrast and color application in this composition draw in the viewer and emphasize the dog's adoring, soulful eyes.
